Dr.Khaled Abdul Ghaffar-Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced inserting 23 Egyptian universities among 767 global universities in the British Times Classification for the impaction of the universities in achieving the goals of the sustainable development for 2020, and he pointed out the Egyptian universities achieved a distinctive active in the goals of the sustainable development that has 17 goals, they have been selected among more than 85 states, he explained the two universities Alex and Banha filled the position 101-200 as the first of the Egyptian universities in this classification. The minister added the inserted Egyptian university in this classification achieved distinctive positions in the goals of the sustainable development and it comes as the following:
1-Banha University in the 101-200 position in the first aim (No Poverty).
2-Suez Channel University in the 13th position in the second aim (Zero Hunger).
3-Alexandria University in the 101-200 position in the third goal (Good Health and Well-Being) the fourth (Quality Education) and the fifth (Gender Quality).
4-Banha University in the 101-200 position in the sixth goal (Clean Water and Sanitation) and the seventh(Affordable and Clean Energy).
5-Pharos University in the101-200 position in the eighth goal(Decent Work and Economic Growth).
6-Assuit University in the 101-200 position in the ninth goal (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure).
7-Alexandria University in the 201-300 position in the tenth goal (Reduced Inequality).
8-Aswan University in the101-200 position in the eleventh goal (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
9-Banha University ranked in the 100 positions in the twelfth goal (Responsible Consumption and Production).
10-The Egyptian Japanese University for Science and Technology in the 40th position in the thirteenth goal (Climate Action).
11- Banha University ranked in the 52 positions in the fourteenth goal (Life Below Water).
12-Banha University in the 34 positions in the fifteenth goal(Life on Land).
13-Alexandria University in the 83 positions in the sixteenth goal ( Peace and Justice Strong Institutions).
14-Banha University in the 83 positions in the sixteenth goal (Partnership for the Goals).
Prof.Abdul Ghaffar emphasized on the scientific research in Egypt witnessed quality and quantity update in the scientific research as it’s issued in the global database, example the rate of the universities ‘publishing and the research center in Egypt more raised in the year of 2019 than the year of 2018 with the percentage 15.4 until now (while the publishing of the 2019 year ends in the second semester in the year of 2020), he pointed out the publishing 2019 achieved ( 24784) research, while the publishing of 2018 achieved (21477)research, so publishing research per 21 minutes. The minister praised the several sectors of the scientific publishing in the period 2016-2019, while Where 41.3% of the total researches were made for basic sciences (10.8% chemical sciences, 8.7% biological sciences, 7.4% natural sciences, 7% informatics and computer science, 4.2% mathematics sciences, 3.2 environmental sciences, 20.1% in medical and health sciences, 19.7% Engineering Sciences and various other research). As for the quality of the scientific research, the rate of quoted for each publishing research number 5.2, and the impaction of the quotation according to the global average reached 1.13 that’s meaning it’s higher than the global average which is 1 for the total of the specializations, and also directed thanks to the academic staff in the universities and research centers on what they did from the effort to reach to this advanced rank among the ancient universities, wished for them more progress particularly in the field of domination that serves the community, confirmed on the necessity of investing the Law of Motivation of Science, Technology and Creativity and its executive regulation in order to achieve their research outputs to industrial products
